What You Need to Know When Buying a Pram

Pram

Buying a pram or stroller for your new born baby is a very important decision. Your baby is going to spend a lot of time in there and you are going to spend a lot of time pushing it! For these reasons it is important that the pram has certain features and functions to ensure both you and your baby get the most out of it.

1. Does the pram have a good reputation?
One of the best things you can do is a quick Google search to find out if your prams brand has a good reputation. Quite often the best critics are the mothers and fathers who have used the pram before. Take a look around forums and other websites to see which prams have the best reputations.

2. Is the pram expensive?
I am sorry to say this but prams are one of those things in life where you get what you pay for. Spending a little extra on a pram is a very important thing to do. This will ensure it has good brakes, a strong frame and quality parts. Many cheaper prams and strollers break down or need constant maintenance. There is nothing worse than being stuck in the middle of a big walk with a broken pram and a crying baby!

3. Is the pram big enough?
You want to make sure that your new pram is big enough for your baby with enough room for them to grow. You want the pram to be large enough for them to sleep and move a little bit and as such the width and depth of the bed area should be adequate.

4. Does the pram have good storage?
You also want to make sure the pram has a lot of room for storing all your baby’s things. Think about the last walk you went on – it wasn’t just the baby you took. You need nappies, bottles, spare clothes, dummies, a place to put your purse… the list is endless. Don’t get stuck with a new pram that has no storage space.

5. Is your baby facing towards you?
Recent scientific studies have shown that the best prams are the one’s that have the baby facing towards you. Apparently, it is important for new born babies and young children to face their parents in the pram as it aids in bonding and personality development. Although the science on this one is not rock solid it is something worth considering.
